We have a large rental fleet of racing and gravel bikes for your rental adventure. You can also rent bike helmets, shoes, travel bags and other bike accessories from us.

General terms and conditions – Rental Schaller Radrennsport

 

  1. Applicability
    The rental is provided by the company Schaller Radrennsport in 3007 Bern, which is the owner of the rental goods. These General Terms and Conditions are an integral part of the rental agreement. By signing it, the customer confirms that they have read and understood these rental conditions and accept them unconditionally. No distinction is made between the various rental properties. These General Terms and Conditions include the entire rental range with all rental objects (road bikes, gravel and mountain bikes, cycling shoes, bike cases, rental helmets, navigation devices, saddlebags, etc.
     
  2. Contractual relationsship
    The contract is concluded between Schaller Radrennsport (hirer) and the customer (renter).
     
  3. Definition rental range
    The rental property images displayed on our website may differ from the rental items actually available. The images only define the category and type of item. We therefore do not guarantee that the booked rental item on the picture corresponds to the item that is actually available.
     
  4. Prices/ payment
    The prices published by Schaller Radrennsport apply. The rental price is to be paid online with a reservation/payment by credit card/Paypal. The prices include all statutory taxes and duties. If the rental is concluded on site, the rent can also be paid in cash or with an EC/Postcard. The rental costs are always to be paid before the start of the rental period. If the exact rental period cannot be clearly defined before the start of the rental, the minimum rental period will be paid in advance and the difference will be refunded when the rental is returned Rental material charged. Partial days are charged at the full rate, the rental material must be returned the day before by closing time or at the agreed time so that no additional costs are incurred. Bikes can be reserved online via the Schaller Radrennsport website. Payment must be made online to confirm the reservation. A booking and payment confirmation will then be sent to the email address provided by the customer.
     
  5. Cancellation of reservation/ adjustment of reservation
    Until 24 hours before the rental period begins, the reservation can be adjusted or canceled free of charge (by phone or in writing via email). After this time, the reservation is considered binding. Any price differences will be settled directly at the shop upon the start of the rental. This means:

    • If a reservation is canceled up to 24 hours before the rental period, no costs will be incurred, and the payment already made will be refunded in full. The refund of the paid amount will be credited to the customer’s credit card or PayPal account in the following days.
    • In case of reservation cancellation within 24 hours before the rental starts, a compensation fee of 50% of the total rental amount will be charged.
    • If the booked rental is not taken up, 100% of the booked rental reservation amount is owed. There is no entitlement to a refund of the payment made.

     

  6. Liability and insurance
    The lessor assumes no liability in the event of an accident. Insurance is the responsibility of the tenant. By concluding the rental agreement, the lessee confirms that he has liability insurance and thus sufficient coverage of the risks involved in driving the rental property. The liability also extends to damage costs such as expert costs, depreciation or loss of rent costs. The lessee can take out “fully comprehensive insurance” with Schaller Radrennsport, so that in the event of an accident, Schaller Radrennsport will be responsible for any damage. This means that the customer’s personal liability insurance does not have to bear the damage costs incurred.
     
  7. Defects / damage / loss or theft of the rental goods
    The tenant is responsible for the rented material as long as it is in his possession, i.e. the tenant is liable for loss. In this case, the current value of the rental property will be charged (calculation is made by the landlord). In the event of intentional damage to the material through negligent handling, uncontrolled driving or negligence, the renter must pay for the damage incurred. The material is checked for any «traces of use» before it is issued. These are recorded in writing. In the event of a wheel breakdown, the lessor is not obliged to organize return transport. Any costs incurred for the return must be borne by the customer. Every rental bike is equipped with an emergency repair kit (spare tube, tire lever, C2 cartridge, adapter).
     
  8. Accident/illness/breakdown or cancellation during the agreed rental period
    In the event of an accident or illness, the difference in the remaining rental period will be reimbursed with a doctor’s certificate. The started day will not be refunded. In case of bad weather, the money for the rental will not be refunded after the rental has started.
     
  9. Deposit guarantee
    When accepting the rental goods, no deposit needs to be made. However, a copy of an official form of identification (identity card or passport) is required.
     
  10. Acceptance and return of the rental equipment
    All bikes are checked, cleaned and tested by a mechanic before each use. It is assumed that the renter understands how to handle the bike. If this is not the case, it must be communicated that a short training session before the tour is desired. Young people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children and young people under the age of 16 who are not accompanied by an adult are only given rental bikes with written permission from their parents or guardians. Upon return, the mechanic will carry out a function check. Defects and wear and tear that can be traced back to abnormal, proper use will be charged to the tenant. All rental items that are included in the contractual relationship must be returned properly and in perfect condition. Missing or defective material will be charged.
     
  11. Use/prohibitions of rental bikes
    The renter undertakes to comply with the Road Traffic Act and to use the rental bike properly and carefully. The renter is responsible for all damage resulting from negligence or improper use of the rented property on the same or on third-party properties. Any misappropriation of the bicycles, the transport of one or more additional people and driving over obstacles that could obviously damage the vehicle are not permitted.
     
  12. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
    Cycle racing strives to resolve disagreements out of court. If the parties cannot reach an agreement, legal action will be taken. This contract is subject to Swiss law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is the regional court of Bern-Mittelland BE based in Bern.
